From Johnson City to Queensland! Defy Culture strikes yet again, this time with a 12 track compilation featuring some intercontinental heavy hitters. And did someone say they're all free to download?! The Johnson City, Tennessee based label just unloaded the compilation on us February 26th and if you've yet to check it out, you're in for a treat! Offering up a mixed bag of flavors from reggae influenced steppers, hip-hop beats and undeniable face melters, the compilation sticks true to the labels "Define Everything For Yourself" mantra. This label has been consistently hitting on all fronts and we couldn't be happier to clue you in on what they've cooked up with DCC002!
Hieroglyphics Volume 2 wastes no time diving right into the robust bass-lines we've come to expect from Defy Culture. Right off the bat, Tappa, Die By The Sword and Teffa all show us DCC002 is playing no games; 3 absolute slow and low belters, fit to have crowds bouncing all over dance floors. The compilation then offers up an assortment of vibes sprinkled throughout the remainder of DCC002. Obskure, Dalek One, Perps, IDHS and Baked Milk all packing a punch with some heavier bits that have had us head-noddin' since the moment we first heard the release! Then the likes of Blottarz, Isded and one of the label's bossmen, Chief Kaya himself, hit home with some more reggae influenced tracks that are gun finger guaranteed. Last but certainly not least, SBE's very own Ellis Delta closes out the compilation with a gnarly hip-hop influenced track, floating in and out some of his signature mid-bass sounds and rumbling subs.
